The three loyal neighbors were a reservoir cascade , consisting of three artificial ponds in the Harz region . Two of them are still preserved. They are located in the urban area of Harzgerode in Saxony-Anhalt , about two kilometers south of Straßberg .

history

The ponds were created around 1704 under the direction of mining captain Georg Christoph von Utterodt . The impact water was originally directed to the pits via the Schindelbruch artificial ditch . Later, Christian Zacharias Koch added it . The impact waters were now also discharged through the Ludengraben.

The first and third ponds have been preserved as a lazy puddle pond and a loyal neighboring pond . All ponds and remains of dams belong to the area monument Unterharzer pond and ditch system .

Middle pond

The middle pond was cut open and is partially silted up. The time of the slicing is not known, the middle pond is no longer present on maps from 1939. The dam was partially removed, possibly in the course of the reconstruction of the Treue Neighboring Pond.
