action

The beautiful stranger Magrit, an American, travels through Germany, the land of her ancestors. When their Intercity near Bebra had to stop due to heavy snowfall and was shut down, the travelers were brought to Bebra by buses. Since she does not want to sleep in the emergency shelter provided, a helpful Pole takes her to the Reichsapfel Hotel to find accommodation.

The brothers and dog breeders Christian and Ulrich Maul sit in the foyer of the hotel. The two get drunk uninhibited and insult Christian's wife Rosel, with whom Ulrich was also married. When the beautiful stranger enters the hotel, the brothers imagine she is a hooker and runs her business in small-town hotels. With this view they also convince the owner Ms. Mielke. As the snow is getting thicker and thicker, Lutter, one of the brothers' employees, comes in to fetch the brothers to clear the dog kennels from the snow loads. The brothers decide to have sex with the beautiful stranger afterwards, but first send Lutter to negotiate the price. When the three of them leave the hotel, a wild romp begins as the Pole has parked the dog breeder's jeep. With xenophobic remarks they chase the Pole through the street, demolish his car and beat him up in such a way that he dies. To disguise the manslaughter as an accident, they put the Pole's demolished car in front of a lantern and disappear. The beautiful stranger watches the incident and disappears into her room.

Later that night, Lutter walks to the door of Magrit's hotel room. Lutter gains entry and presses Magrit. He tells her that he wants to take her with him to the Harz Mountains like the others and reveals himself to her as Mephisto. With the help of his dog Gero, he harassed her and finally raped her.

The next morning, Magrit calls the local lawyer Dr. Gustav Futterknecht to report both the manslaughter and the rape. Although Futterknecht is familiar with the local customs, he lets Mrs. Mielke and Lutter change his mind to such an extent that he ultimately blames the beautiful stranger. She would have wanted too brazenly to pursue her trade as a prostitute in this hotel. The guilt is reversed on Magrit.

When Magrit wanted to celebrate her wedding with her husband Leon in the following days, the two of them had a conversation. Magrit reveals to her husband that she was raped. Her husband also sees the guilt in her. Magrit finally decides to go back to Bebra to settle her affairs there.

In the final act of the piece, Magrit plays the brothers Maul, Lutter, Futterknecht and Ms. Mielke against each other. She now actually pretends to be a prostitute and promises the Maul brothers cohabitation if they would kill the dog Gero. When Lutter sees the dead Gero lying, he is beside himself and in turn kills the Maul brothers. Futterknecht also promises her love to Magrit and moves him to inform the German Shepherd Association about the dog murder. The club rises, sets fire to the Maul brothers' house and goes to the hotel.
