Our parents' sexual neuroses

The sexual neuroses of our parents is a play by the Swiss author Lukas Bärfuss . The world premiere took place in February 2003 at the Theater Basel ; the play was subsequently performed on various other stages in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The play was translated into 12 languages ​​by 2005.

The young girl Dora is in love. Growing up in a sheltered environment, with loving parents, a long-suffering boss, an interested doctor, she discovers her sexuality after stopping the sedative medication she has been taking for years and, with her directness, offends her surroundings. The everyday inhibitions of fellow human beings come to light.

In 2015, the Swiss director Stina Werenfels filmed the play under the title Dora or the sexual neuroses of our parents . Victoria Schulz , Jenny Schily and Lars Eidinger star in this German production .
