The seven little monsters (original title: Seven Little Monsters; alternative title: Maurice Sendak's Seven Little Monsters ) is a Canadian cartoon series that was produced between 2000 and 2003 . The target group are children and families. The plot is based on the books by the children's author and illustrator Maurice Sendak .
Plot and characters
The series revolves around seven little monsters who go on many adventures and learn important things about life and live with their mother at 1234567 Chestnut Street. Each monster has its own number as a name and special properties and abilities.
- So is number one , the oldest of them all and at the same time also the most athletic of the seven and is the only one who can fly. However, she is also a sneak, looks a lot like a tomboy and often gets the others into trouble. Nevertheless, she always stands up for the others.
- Number two is the most helpful monster of the seven and has a long nose.
- Number three is the most dramatic monster with fluctuating personalities and behavior, which often gets the others into trouble.
- Number four is very scared and a little grumpy at times. He's very interested in Five and the vacillating personalities and behaviors of Three.
- Number five is still very childlike and therefore speaks few words. In addition, he is often hungry and loves his siblings very much and apologizes for all his mistakes.
- Number six is the most beautiful monster of the seven and acts like a ballerina .
- Number seven is the tallest and youngest of the seven. He can also remove his head and is always very gentle with others.
Production and publication
The series was produced in Canada between 2000 and 2003 by Nelvana , Helix Animation, Philippine Animation Studio Inc., Suzhou Hong Ying Animation and Wild Things Productions. This resulted in 4 seasons with 54 episodes, of which only the first was broadcast in a German version.
The series first aired on September 9, 2000 on PBS . The German premiere took place on August 1, 2001 on Super RTL . Further repetitions on German-language television also took place on Fix & Foxi , KidsCo and eoTV . The series was also released on DVD .
