The dead cities
“ The dead cities. Were the Allied bombing war crimes? “(Org. Among the Dead Cities: Was the Allied Bombing of Civilians in WWII a Necessity or a Crime? ) Is a book by the British philosopher A. C. Grayling , which deals with the British area bombing (“ Area-Bombing ”) on German and Japanese Cities grappled in World War II . The book deals with the question of whether the Allied bombing raids can be morally justified.
Grayling concludes that the attacks against the cities and the associated civilian casualties did not shorten the war and were therefore morally reprehensible. He tries not to allow comparisons between the methods of the Third Reich and the Allies , but rather discusses the limits of legitimate warfare.
