Diego Dublé Urrutia
Diego Dublé Urrutia (born July 8, 1877 in Angol , † November 13, 1967 in Santiago de Chile ) was a Chilean poet, painter and diplomat. He was particularly well known for his poetry.
Life
Diego Dublé Urrutia came from a traditional and wealthy family in his country. He studied law, later he became a diplomat and represented his country as ambassador to Austria , Brazil and Ecuador . In 1928 he converted to Catholicism, which was to have a decisive influence on his work. He became a member of the Chilean Language Academy (Academia Chilena de la Lengua) , was friends with Paul Claudel , who had a decisive influence on his conversion, and married a sister of the famous Chilean poet Vicente Huidobro .
