Diesel Auto Camion

A truck with the brand name DAC, manufactured by Roman

The name Diesel Auto Camion , abbreviated as DAC , was a commonly used sales name for commercial vehicles from the Romanian manufacturers Roman and Rocar .

history

The term was used by Roman from 1973 onwards. When exactly it was introduced at Rocar is unclear, but buses that were produced at Rocar were delivered under the name "DAC" from 1975 at the latest. After Rocar was dissolved in 2002, Roman continued to use the brand alone. When the name was changed to SC Roman SA in 2004, no more trucks were delivered under the name "DAC". The reason was that the new (private) owners only wanted to use the “Roman” brand. In previous years, the terms "Roman" or "DAC" were used according to customer requirements. Except for a few small things, the vehicles were identical at that time.

Models

In addition to the Roman model range of that time, which was sold under both names in parallel, there were some omnibuses and trolleybuses that were produced by Rocar and Roman, but marketed exclusively under the name "DAC". The DAC 112 E is an example of this .
