The joint stock company ROCAR SA (until 1993 Uzina Autobuzul București or from 1955 to 1970 Uzinele Tudor Vladimirescu ) was a Romanian manufacturer of commercial vehicles that existed from 1951 to 2002 and was based in Bucharest . Manufactured vans , buses and trolleybuses .

The company was founded in 1951 and the first production lines for commercial vehicles and agricultural machines were installed. An in-house sports club was founded in 1953 under the name Autobuzul Bucharest . In 1956 the first motor bus was built on a truck chassis , and in 1957 the range was expanded to include trolleybuses , minibuses and flatbed trucks based on their own designs. From 1968 ROCAR exported vehicles to Eastern European countries , Africa, South America and the Middle East . In 1971 the company bought a license to reproduce diesel engines and vehicles from MAN . Part of the production has been delivered under the Diesel Auto Camion brand (DAC for short) since the 1970s . From 1990 ROCAR cooperated with De Simon , an Italian manufacturer of bus bodies.
