The Purvis Eureka was an Australian sports car manufactured by Purvis Cars in Dandenong, Victoria from 1974 to 1991 . The car, which was first exhibited at the Melbourne Auto Show 1974, was based on the design of the British Nova from 1971. It was built on the chassis of a VW Beetle , had a GRP body and was made up of a 1.6-liter or 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine powered by VW. The engines developed between 50 hp (37 kW) and 71 hp (52 kW). There were also versions with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder in-line engine from Ford (100 hp / 74 kW) and with various rotary engines from Mazda . The Eureka was offered both as a kit car and fully assembled. The coupé body had a cockpit that could be folded up and down manually for entry and exit. It was also available with an electric opening on request. From the early 1980s there was also a version with a Targa roof .
