Dieter Hauert

Dieter Hans Hauert (born June 30, 1935 in Magdeburg ) is a German basketball official and entrepreneur .

Life

Hauert played handball as a teenager . In 1977 he was a founding member of the Association of Friends of the National Gallery , at the end of the 1980s he was one of the co-founders of the private radio broadcaster Hundert, 6 . As an entrepreneur, he was active through his company Hauert Projekt GmbH (until 2007: Hauert Hotel-Holding GmbH), among other things, in the catering, construction and brokerage industries and was co-owner of hotels in Berlin.

In 1991, the business graduate became President of Alba Berlin . During his tenure as chairman, he won the Korac Cup in 1995, the German championship titles in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2008 as well as the German cup victories in 1997, 1999, 2002, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2013, 2014 and 2016. Another milestone in his career as an official: The spin-off of the professional department from Alba Berlin into a GmbH in July 2006. In November 2016 , Marco Baldi described Hauert as "the father of this club", describing its importance for Alba Berlin. In 2007 Hauert received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon .

In November 2016 he retired as Alba President after 25 years and was appointed Honorary President, but remained on the supervisory board of the operating company of Alba's professional team. In October 2017 he was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Berlin .
