Dieter Klöckner (musicologist)

Dieter Klöckner (born January 14, 1935 in Cologne ) is a German musicologist and music teacher . He researched and taught in the fields of historical musicology (including the connection between history and music history) and music education (school music lessons and instrumental lessons).

Career

Dieter Klöckner was born in Cologne and grew up in Tyrol (Austria) and Cologne. After attending the classical grammar school in Cologne-Nippes , he first studied music and German at the Detmold University of Music and then worked as a secondary school teacher in the Rhineland. In 1963, in addition to his school service, he began studying musicology at the University of Cologne , where he was awarded a Dr. phil. He then held various positions (including deputy for a C3 professorship) at the University of Education in Bonn. In 1985 he switched to the Cologne University of Music as a lecturer . a. entrusted with the management of the seminar for music education as well as with the deputy management of the examination office for music school teachers. In addition, he was visiting professor at the Pedagogical University in Krakow and at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

In 1971 Dieter Klöckner co-founded the ODHECATON, Ensemble for Early Music Cologne, took part in various concert tours in other European countries and contributed to a number of records and CDs.

He is married and has a daughter. He lives with his wife in Berlin-Zehlendorf.
