Dieter Klinner
Dieter Klinner (born July 18, 1937 ) is a former German soccer player who played 14 games in the Oberliga West for Meidericher SV .
Career
Klinner came from the Duisburg district of Hochheide on the left bank of the Rhine and was signed by the upper division Meidericher SV in the run-up to the 1960/61 season. The Oberliga West represented the top division in the then regionally limited league system. The defender was considered versatile and took a place in the first team in the early stages of the season. On August 14, 1960 he made his first division debut on the opening match day against the promoted TSV Marl-Hüls and achieved a 5-2 success against the newcomer with his teammates after two defeats. Even against the background that at that time no substitutions were possible, he was only called up sporadically from the middle of the season.
After the MSV had only just barely reached the class remaining in eleventh place, the 1961/62 season was more successful and ended in fifth place in the table. Klinner himself, however, was unable to break out of his role as a substitute and did not make more than three missions during the entire season. In 1962 he left the MSV after a total of 14 disputed league games, in which he had failed to score his own.
