Life

Dieter Ramsauer is the son of the toolmaker Hermann Ramsauer and Franziska Ramsauer and grew up in Velbert. He attended elementary school and completed an apprenticeship as a toolmaker after finishing school . This was followed by engineering studies at the technical and scientific college (Tewifa) on Lake Constance .

Ramsauer initially worked as a designer and sales engineer and started his own engineering office in 1973. In addition, he designed components for a metal processing company, for which he worked as a sales engineer and for which he developed numerous patents , which were then given to this company on the basis of a license agreement.

In 1991 he founded the internationally active Dieter Ramsauer Konstruktionselemente GmbH (DIRAK), initially with 15 employees. As the company expanded continuously, Ramsauer built the company's headquarters in Oelkinghausen in 1998 . The company currently employs around 600 people and holds over 400 patents, with around 5 to 10 additional patents being registered each year. The company's range, which is also represented at trade fairs, consists of around 4,500 catalog items in the field of locking, hinge and connection technology .

Inventions

In 1967 Ramsauer developed a modular quarter-turn bolt and in 1968 a modular rod lock system.

In 1981 the swivel lever lock was developed and in 1986 a new type of modular rod lock system, which can be installed outside the seal in the folded area of a switch cabinet.

Ramsauer's DIRAK-SNAP-Technology (DST) simplifies assembly. With this invention, he received the nomination for "Engineer of the Year" by the American trade magazine Design News . DIRAK-SNAP-Technology also received the product of the year 2005 award from the trade journal KEM Konstruktions .
