Dietlind Petzold (* 1941 in Dortmund ) is a German sculptor and painter.

Dietlind Petzold grew up in Worpswede and Bremen. From 1960 to 1964 she studied literature and education at the Universities of Hamburg and Marburg. In 1967 she married Lutz Lesle ; the marriage was divorced in 1979 and remained childless. In the seventies she turned intensely to sculpture. In-depth examination of the work of Gustav Seitz and Bernhard Heiliger . From 1977 freelance sculptor. In 1979 she moved to Suvereto / Italy, where she devoted herself intensively to marble sculpture ( Pietrasanta ). 2012/13 move to Germany, Heckenbeck.

Dietlind Petzold is known at home and abroad for her fine, concentrated marble work and her large sculptures in stainless steel and marble (granite). Her works can be found not only with many private collectors, but also in numerous cities and public collections.

Artistic creation

Starting with the figure (portrait and animal sculpture), Dietlind Petzold's artistic work increasingly turned to abstraction.

  • 1989 sculpture symposium in Hanover / Langenhagen
  • 1989–1995 free work in marble and intensive examination of the development of the abstract portrait
  • Large sculptures in marble / granite and stainless steel have been created since 1995
  • 1st prize in the international competition on the subject of Resistenza e Liberazione , 1995 work carried out.
  • In the same year, he was invited to participate in the international sculpture biennale in Padova / Italy
  • 1997 Verses by Nelly Sachs inspire reliefs on canvas

  • In 2001 the idea of windows (sculptures) for an exhibition in the European Parliament in Brussels developed from this.

  • 2004–2005 The topic of cracks comes to the fore and is dealt with in pictures (acrylic on canvas and watercolors).

  • The cosmo immaginario has been created since 2015 - a small additional design to the existing creation in image (acrylic on canvas) and sculpture (wood, iron, brass screws and threads). It is shaped by the preoccupation with astronomy and the cosmos - stimulated by trips to the Atacama Desert - and shows a new perspective in art.
