Dietrich Franke

Dietrich Franke (born June 9, 1943 in Brotterode ; † June 26, 2012 in Berlin ) was a German lawyer and former judge at the Federal Administrative Court .

Career

Franke studied law at the Universities of Bonn , Berlin and Lausanne . After the first state examination in 1967, he went to Harvard Law School for a master’s degree , which he successfully completed with a Master of Laws degree. After the Second State Examination in 1972 Franke worked as a research assistant at the Faculty of Law and Political Science and at the Institute for International Law at the University of Bonn and as a lawyer . In 1978 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD.

In the same year he entered the higher judicial service of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia , where he initially worked at the Arnsberg Administrative Court . From 1984 to 1989 Franke was a research assistant at the Federal Constitutional Court . In October 1989 he was appointed judge at the Higher Administrative Court for the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . After reunification , Franke worked at the Potsdam District Court and in the Ministry of Justice of the State of Brandenburg . After being appointed presiding judge at the Higher Administrative Court in 1993, he was appointed judge at the Federal Administrative Court in 1995. There he was assigned to the 5th Revision Senate, which is responsible, among other things, for welfare law, law for the severely disabled, youth welfare and youth protection law, training, graduate and vocational training promotion, displaced persons, citizenship law and compensation and compensation law. Franke was also an elected member of the Presidential Council.

At the end of June 2008, Franke retired due to old age.
