The court is located in the west of the old town of Arnsberg at Jägerstraße 1 .

With the permission of the sovereign , the provincial estates of the Duchy of Westphalia had a penitentiary built from stones from the Arnsberg Castle , which was destroyed in the Seven Years' War . In the Hessian era (after 1803) the building was used as a barracks. After the transition of the former Duchy of Westphalia to Prussia (1816), the building served as the seat of the Arnsberg district government . In 1883 two rear wings were added. Nevertheless, the building became too small for the increasing number of officials. In the 1920s, therefore, the headquarters of the government was relocated . Various administrative offices took turns in the old building before the administrative court took over the house.

Superior courts
