Dietrich II of Minden

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dietrich (also Theodoricus ) († January 9 or 19 or February 1022 ) was probably bishop of Minden from 1002 until his death in 1022 .

In the chronicles of the bishops of Minden he is usually listed as Dietrich II . At first glance, this seems unusual, as there has apparently been no Bishop Dietrich in Minden before him. The census is based on the assumption that his predecessor, usually referred to as Theodoric (Theodoric was bishop from 853 to 880), was also sometimes referred to as Dietrich, cf. Notes on the first name Dietrich .

When he climbed the Kathedra in Minden in 1002 , he received the regalia from the emperor in the same year , including the right to mint , the right to customs , lucrative for a village on the Weser breakthrough Porta Westfalica , and the right to a meat market . He was able to increase the holdings of the bishopric through donations . Dietrich II died on January 19 or February 1022. At least one source also reports a death on October 8, 1022.
