Dietrich Schomburg

Dietrich Schomburg (born November 13, 1884 in Bremen ; † May 21, 1971 in Bremen) was a German educator and historian .

biography

Schomburg was the son of a carpenter and then a surveyor. He was the younger brother of the pedagogue Anna Schomburg (1875–1955), founder of the Schomburg School . He studied pedagogy, German , history and geography at the University of Halle , the University of Heidelberg and the University of Jena . He received his doctorate as Dr. phil. with the theme The Dominicans in Bremen in the 13th century .

Schomburg then taught at his sister's school. He was a soldier in the First World War . From 1919 to 1922 he was a senior teacher, then a teacher at the Schomburg School , which he then helped to direct. From 1929 to 1945 he was a director of the school, until 1939 together with his sister. In 1945 he retired. He then took up a teaching position at the school on Hamburger Strasse . He wrote the historical directory of the state of Bremen .
