Dietrich von Werthern (progenitor)
Dietrich von Werthern , also von Wert (h) erde (* around 1400 ; † 1470 ) is the progenitor of all today's representatives of the von Werthern noble family . He was a knight, had owned the Wiehe estate since 1452 and was in the service of the Counts of Stolberg . He must not be confused with the Stolberg Chancellor of the same name, Dietrich von Werthern (Chancellor) , his nephew.

In 1452 Dietrich von Werthern bought the castle and rule Wiehe from Count Heinrich von Schwarzburg, with the associated patronage over the Donndorf monastery . In 1456 he acquired the office and Ebersberg castle as pledge from Count Heinrich zu Stolberg, who soon redeemed it.
At the end of April 1461 he went on a pilgrimage to the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem with Duke Wilhelm of Saxony .
He was married to Elisabeth von Hoym since June 1, 1439 . From this marriage came the children Hans von Werthern and Elisabeth, married to Friedrich von Witzleben , knight on Wendelstein since 1460 .
