Diffusion transistor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a diffusion transistor is referred to each transistor , wherein the electrically active regions by diffusion of impurity atoms ( dopants ) in a semiconductor - substrate (eg. Silicon - wafers ) are manufactured. Diffusion transistors include bipolar transistors and field effect transistors .

In 1954, employees at Bell Labs developed the first prototype of a diffusion bipolar transistor, in which the base region was produced in this way. Important representatives of this group of transistors include the mesa transistor and the planar transistor .
