Diine

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Diynes are organic compounds that have two triple bonds . The name is derived from Di for two and the ending -in for alkynes , the main class of organic compounds with triple bonds. A subgroup are the alkadiynes , in which the basic structure is derived from the alkanes, without heteroatoms or other multiple bonds .

Manufacturing

Symmetrical conjugated diynes can be obtained by a Glaser coupling , unsymmetrical diynes by a Cadiot-Chodkiewicz coupling . A terminal alkyne and a bromoalkyne are linked to one another in a cross-coupling, catalyzed by copper salts .
