Dildar
Dildar , real name Yûnis Re'ûf , (born February 20, 1918 in Koye , † October 12, 1948 in Erbil ) was a Kurdish poet. He wrote Ey Reqîb , the anthem of the Kurdistan Autonomous Region .
life and work
He was born in what was then the Sanjak of the Ottoman Empire . He finished his education in Kirkuk and then studied law in Baghdad . There he joined the first legally recognized Kurdish organization Hiwā (dt. Hope), which had set itself the goal of the unity and freedom of the Kurdish people. In addition to his studies and political activities, he also wrote Kurdish-language poems. Most of them were published in the Kurdish-language magazines Rûnakî and Gelawêj, which were known at the time. His best-known work is the poem Ey Reqîb , which he wrote in 1938 during his political imprisonment in Persia . He graduated in 1945 and worked as a lawyer for some time.
When the Republic of Mahabad was proclaimed in 1946, he joined it and went there. His poem Ey Reqîb was set to music and made the national anthem of the Republic of Mahabad. Today it is the anthem of the Autonomous Region of Kurdistan and is considered by the majority of Kurds as their national anthem.
He died of a heart attack when he was only 30 years old .
