Dimitar Orachowaz

Dimitar Petrov Orachowaz ( Bulgarian Димитър Петров Ораховац * 10. October 1892 in Lovech , † 28. November 1963 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian physiologist .

Life

Orachowaz studied medicine in Munich . He continued his studies at Cambridge , where he specialized in physiology. From 1951 to 1963 he was director of the Institute of Physiology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences .

In his scientific work he dealt with problems of the storage function of the spleen , nutritional problems , vascular tone and the physiology of the circulatory system.

Orachowaz was awarded the Dimitrov Prize.
