Dimitri Qipiani
Dimitri Kipiani ( Georgian დიმიტრი ყიფიანი * 14 . Jul / 26. June 1814 greg. In Mereti , Shida Kartli , † October 24 jul. / 5. November 1887 greg. In Stavropol ) was a Georgian journalist , landlords and senior official in the administration of the Russian viceroy in the Caucasus .
life and work
Qipiani was commissioned by the viceroy to find a way to free the Georgian serfs . But his plan was inadequate: the serfs were not supposed to receive any property, but rather continue to cultivate their masters' land and pay rent in return for this land use .
Quipiani was also active as a writer. He wrote short stories and poems ( The Mtatsminda of Qwishcheti , answer of an old friend ), published translations and literary-historical writings. In 1882 he published a New Georgian Grammar .
