Ding Xuexiang

Ding Xuexiang ( Chinese  丁 薛 祥 , Pinyin Dīng Xuēxiáng ; born September 1962 in Nantong City, Jiangsu Province ) is a Chinese politician and has been a member of the 19th Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China since October 2017 . He is general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party .

Career

Ding was born in September 1962 in Nantong, Jiangsu Province. He completed his bachelor's degree at the Northeast Heavy Industry College ( Yanshan University ). He joined the Chinese Communist Party in 1984. From 1989 to 1994 he studied administrative management at the Faculty of Management at Fudan University and obtained a Master of Science degree. From 2012 to 2013 he was Secretary of Politics and Law for the Shanghai Communist Party. He was an associate member of the 18th Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, and in 2013 became the associate director of the General Office of the CCP Central Committee. In October 2017, he became general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and a member of the 19th Political Bureau of the CCP. He is considered a confidante of President Xi Jinping , as he worked for him in Shanghai in 2007 and followed him in many positions.
