Dino Frescobaldi

Dino Frescobaldi (* 1271 in Florence ; † 1316 ) was an Italian poet.

Life

Dino Frescobaldi was a personality very close to Dante Alighieri's sphere of activity . He is considered to be one of the greatest representatives of the Dolce Stil Nuovo . Dante developed this style, which is referred to with the term he himself coined. In this style, the theme of love - the divine power of Cupid and the lady who leads the lover to the divine - is philosophically exaggerated and veiled linguistically and rhetorically with sought-after means. His work is emphasized, for example, by Pietro Bembo and Giovanni Boccaccio . He was the son of Lambertuccio Frescobaldi, a descendant of the wealthy Florentine merchant family of the Frescobaldi.

He was very much appreciated by his contemporaries. His sonnets and songs were in large numbers. He was the friend of Dante who had sent him to the Marquis Morello Malaspina in 1305. He housed Dante and he was also the one who is said to have asked Dante after the first seven songs of the Divine Comedy to continue working on that work.

Dino Frescobaldi was the father of the poet Matteo Frescobaldi .
