Diogo Miguel Morgado Soares (born January 17, 1981 in Campo Grande , Lisbon ) is a Portuguese model and film actor.

Life

Diogo Morgado was born in Campo Grande, a municipality in the Portuguese capital, Lisbon . He and his younger brother Pedro grew up in the Alentejo . Diogo's career began in 1995, at the age of 14, as a photo model. In the same year he made his debut as an actor in the television series Os Malucos do Riso . From 1998 he was in front of the camera for 130 episodes in the daily soap Terra Mãe , which is still produced in Portugal .

To this day, Morgado is mainly known in Portugal. He has appeared in numerous television films and series as a leading or guest actor. In the successful telenovelas Laços de Sangue (2010-2011) he worked as an actor for 315 episodes. As he became more well-known, he was given more leading roles, for example in 2012 in the award-winning thriller A Teia de Gelo by the well-known director and actor Nicolau Breyner . He played Jesus of Nazareth in the miniseries The Bible (2013) . In the resulting film Son of God , he was also in front of the camera as the Son of God.

Diogo Morgado is currently in a relationship with Sofia Duarte Silva. In early May 2016, the couple became parents of a son. From a previous relationship with Cátia Oliveira, he has his son Santiago, who was born on September 2, 2009.
