Diplomatic law

Diplomatic law , diplomatic law (formerly embassy law ) is the entirety of legal norms that regulate the activities of diplomatic missions and diplomatic missions.

Diplomatic law is a field of international law . The Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (WÜD) codified the customary law developed diplomatic law. It was concluded in Vienna on April 18, 1961 following preparatory work by the UN International Law Commission and has been in force since April 24, 1962. The agreement regulates the diplomatic traffic including immunities of diplomats .

Sub-areas

A distinction is made between international and national diplomatic law:

  • International diplomatic law (international law) regulates on the international level (the states).
  • National diplomatic law is part of administrative law and regulates the diplomatic service (foreign service), the diplomatic ranks (civil servant career), diplomatic protocol, etc.
