history
The establishment of the service in 1907 took place in a time of tense political climate, in the Third Republic . The tasks at that time were the supervision of various currents of the opposition : royalists , Bonapartists , anarchists and other revolutionary currents of socialists .
In 1941 the Vichy regime also founded a service of the same name.
On July 1, 2008, it was merged with the Direction de la surveillance du territoire (DST) to form the new Direction centrale du renseignement intérieur (DCRI).
assignment
Their task was to “research and centralize information with the aim of informing the government”.
construction
The DCRG was organized in four sub-divisions:
- Research Sub-Directorate
- Subdivision of Analysis, Foresight and Social Facts
- Sub-Directorate of Resources
- Sub-division of races and games of chance.
