Dirk Adorf (born July 10, 1969 in Altenkirchen ) is a German automobile racing driver .

Career

Racing driver

Adorf has been involved in motorsport regularly since 1991 and is mainly active in touring car and GT racing . Until 2001 he switched several times between the DTC ( German Touring Car Challenge ; today: Procar Series) and the VLN Endurance Championship Nürburgring at the Nürburgring. In 2002 he started exclusively in the V8STAR series, a German silhouette touring car championship. In the following year, the endurance championship was added, also on a V8 Star vehicle.

Since 2004 he has mostly been active in the endurance championship, in 2008 in a Lamborghini Gallardo, which was used by Raeder Motorsport . In 2009, a similarly painted Ford GT was used in the same constellation . Dirk Adorf has been a works driver for BMW since 2010. In total, he has so far won seven overall victories in the VLN endurance championship and 56 class wins. He also became champion of the VLN endurance championship in 1992, 1996 and 1997.

Furthermore, he competed a total of 29 times (including 25 times in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring , once in Spa, twice in Dubai and once in Bahrain) in 24-hour races. In 2009 he secured pole position in a Ford GT. Adorf has been a co-commentator on the WTCC broadcasts on Eurosport since 2007 and has also been commenting on the Le Mans 24-hour race there since 2012. Since 2009 Adorf has also been working for the TV broadcaster VOX and can be seen there on the program Automobil. Since 2016 he has been commenting on the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring for the TV station RTL Nitro . In 2017 he took part in this race with a BMW M4 GT4 and achieved a class win.

In 2007 Dirk Adorf finished the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring with a Porsche from Team Land Motorsport in third place. Since 2010, he has been competing there with BMW works cars. 2010 and 2011 on a BMW M3 according to GT2 regulations, from 2012 with the BMW Z4 GT3. After a long lead in 2010, Adorf finished the 24-hour race in Spa (Belgium) in third place.

Mentor and coach

Adorf has been a mentor and coach for the BMW Motorsport Juniorteam (junior program) since 2011, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2017, and is also a test and development driver for BMW Motorsport (including the BMW 235i Racing Cup, BMW M4 GT4). For the DTM he moderates the BMW hospitality and has also been driving the BMW race taxi (BMW M4 DTM) since 2012.

Outside of racing, Adorf is an entrepreneur in Altenkirchen , where he runs both a Toyota and (since 2009) a Ford dealership. He lives in Michelbach .
