Dirk Ahner (economist)
Dirk Ahner (born September 8, 1946 in Lippstadt ) is a German economist and former EU official.
Life
Dirk Ahner studied economics in Bochum, graduated in 1972 and received his doctorate in Tübingen in 1976 .
Two years later he joined the European Commission , initially in the Directorate-General for Agriculture, where he went through a career up to Deputy Director General (2003 to 2006). In January 2007 he took over the management of the Directorate General for Regional Policy . He retired at the end of 2011. Walter Deffaa was his successor .
