Theodor Brinkmann

Johann Heinrich Theodor Brinkmann (born April 24, 1877 in Marl , † August 11, 1951 in Bonn ) was a German agricultural scientist .

Life

Family and education

Born Catholic Theodor Brinkmann, born in Marl, son of the farmer Johann Theodor Brinkmann (1843–1922) and his Scholven- born wife Josefine, born Strangemann (1852–1919), turned to the Rheinische Friedrich to study agriculture and economics after graduating from high school -Wilhelms-Universität Bonn as well as at the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena , where he acquired the academic degree of Dr. phil.

In 1915, Theodor Brinkmann married Charlotte, who was born in Neuenahr and was the daughter of the medical adviser Wilhelm Nießen. From this marriage came two sons and a daughter. Brinkmann died in Bonn in the summer of 1951 at the age of 75.

Professional career

After completing his studies, Theodor Brinkmann received a position as a scientific assistant at the Agricultural University in Poppelsdorf near Bonn, where he qualified as a professor in 1908 in the field of agricultural management. In the same year Brinkmann took over the representation of the chair from Friedrich Aereboe , in 1911 he was appointed full professor and institute director, in 1945 briefly rector of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. In 1948 he was at the Agricultural Faculty of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-University of Bonn, which in 1934 emerged from the Agricultural University Poppelsdorf emeritus . In addition, he was employed as an agricultural expert in North and South America in 1925 and from 1928 to 1930 .

Theodor Brinkmann, who received an honorary doctorate from the agricultural faculty of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel in 1947 , made particular contributions to the treatment of agricultural management as a systemic science.

Theodor Brinkmann Prize

The Theodor Brinkmann Foundation eV, founded in 1977 at the University of Bonn, awards him the Theodor Brinkmann Prize for “outstanding scientific or practical experience” in the field of agricultural economics . Prize winners were:
