Dirk Becker (born May 4, 1966 in Bielefeld-Gadderbaum ) is a German politician ( SPD ), former member of the German Bundestag and mayor of the Lippe city ​​of Oerlinghausen since 2015 .

Life

After graduating from secondary school in 1983, Becker trained in the middle service at the city of Bielefeld and then worked there from 1985 to 1992 in the housing department of the Heepen district office. From 1992 to 1995 graduated from Becker to study at the School of Public Administration in Bielefeld, which he as a graduate in business administration (FH) ended. He then joined the administration of the Bielefeld City Library and in 1999 became the administrative director of the Bielefeld Adult Education Center.

Political party

Becker has been a member of the SPD since 1988 and was chairman of the SPD district association in Lippe from 2008 to 2014.

From 2005 to 2015 Becker was a member of the German Bundestag . Dirk Becker entered the Bundestag in 2005 with 48.0% of the first vote as a directly elected member of the Lippe I constituency .

Public offices

Becker was a member of the city council of Oerlinghausen from 1994 to 2005 and was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from 2002 to 2005. From 1999 to 2004 Becker was deputy mayor of the city of Oerlinghausen. In 2004 Becker was the SPD's top candidate for the office of mayor of Oerlinghausen for the first time , but could not prevail against the incumbent incumbent Ursula Herbort. In the local elections on September 13, 2015, Dirk Becker achieved 70.1% of the votes, making him the full-time mayor of the city of Oerlinghausen. Dirk Becker, who had moved into the Bundestag with a direct mandate, resigned his Bundestag mandate on October 21, 2015. His successor in the Bundestag was Petra Rode-Bosse (SPD).
