Dirk Dammann (born August 14, 1967 in Stade ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
Dirk Dammann's career began in his hometown of Stade. Dammann was one of the top performers who contributed to the rise of VfL Stade . The peak was in 1990; Dammann rose with VfL in the then third-class league, but left the club in the direction of FC St. Pauli . At VfL Stade, the lanky Dammann initially played in the attacking midfield, until the Kiezclub quickly realized that the offensive skills were only sufficient for amateur football. Dammann was thus retrained as a defender. In the first 50 games for FC St. Pauli as a midfielder, Dammann did not score a goal. In his entire time at this club there were only two hits. From 1990 to 1999 he made a total of 260 missions, including 81 in the Bundesliga for FC St. Pauli. In all of his professional time, Dammann was never expelled from the field.
In the 1999/2000 season Dammann moved to 1. SC Norderstedt , where he played for two years. After that he was active again for VfL Stade until 2007. He played his last game as an active player in May 2007, where he contributed a goal to the 5-0 win against SG Lühe. From 2013 to 2016 Dammann trained the 97 class of the JFV Stade. For the 2016/17 season, Dammann became team manager of the VfL Güldenstern Stade club, which was created by the merger of VfL and TuS Güldenstern, and will take over the coaching position there from the 2018/19 season together with Matthias Quadt.
