Dirk Henry-Richard Lange

Dirk Henry-Richard Lange (born February 19, 1963 ) is an international swimming coach.

Life

For many years he was an active athlete in the DSV team . As part of this, he achieved membership in all age-related national teams and the men's national team. On the advice of Örjan Madsen (Sports Director DSV) and Jürgen Greve, he began his career as a coach in the Hamburg base in 1992. There he trained a. a. Sandra Völker , the Swede Therese Alshammar and the world record holder Mark Foster . He was the head coach of the federal base in Hamburg / Kiel and was responsible for the entire north German area in the DSV.

In 2005, Lange went to South Africa, where, as National Performance Director, he produced world champions and world records. At the end of 2008 Dirk Lange became national coach in the German Swimming Association. The contract was terminated early at the end of 2011. From January 2012 to September 2012, Lange was Technical Director of the Mexican Swimming Federation.

Since October 2012 he has held the position of head coach of the Styrian State Swimming Association based in Graz. At the same time, in 2012 he opened the “DLP Project 2016”, which, as a commercial institution, helps athletes, clubs and associations to prepare for tasks in national and international swimming. Lange advised the Croatian national team, the Chinese national team, the University of Dublin and various clubs, among others. In addition, top international athletes in the DLP project, such as the South African Olympic champion Cameron vd Burgh or the world champions Gerhard Zandberg (South Africa), Fabio Scozzolli (Italy), Marco Koch (Germany) train there for training purposes. Lange gives lectures and advises on strategic issues in competitive sports.

Awards

In 1999, Dirk Lange was named Trainer of the Year in Germany and received television awards for his co-comments at Eurosport . Its athletes have won more than 110 medals at the Olympic Games, World and European Championships and have achieved 25 world records and 36 European records. Lange's athletes won 7 medals (1 × gold, 3 × silver, 3 × bronze) at the Olympic Games, 16 titles at world championships and 36 titles at European championships.
