Steffen Hultsch

Steffen Hultsch (born May 7, 1944 ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). He was previously a member of the recently founded USPD and the WASG . From July to October 2009 he was a member of the German Bundestag .

Professional background

After completing his law degree , Hultsch worked from 1969 to 1979 as a research assistant and senior assistant at the chair for labor law at the Academy for State and Law in Potsdam . From 1976 to 1979 he worked on the labor code of the GDR . From 1979 to 1981 he taught at the Guinea-Bissau School of Law and also advised the Minister of Justice of the Republic. From 1983 to 1991 he taught labor law at the Academy for State and Law in Potsdam. At the same time he was a member of the Council for Occupational Safety Research of the GDR from 1985 to 1990 and, between 1989 and 1991, he was acting head of the chair for social lawat the University of Potsdam . Since 1990 he has worked as a lawyer specializing in labor and social law in Potsdam.

Political career

When the USPD was re-established in February 1990, Hultsch was one of the founding members. After WASG was founded in 2004, he was a member of the board and press spokesman for the Brandenburg State Association. In the 2005 Bundestag election he ran for 6th place on the state list of the Left Party.PDS , but only the first five candidates entered the Bundestag. In 2006 he was spokesman for the WASG Brandenburg, and a year later he was a member of the Die Linke state board. In 2008, Hultsch was the spokesman for the State Working Group on Solidarity Economy and deputy state chairman Die Linke. State of Brandenburg and head of the labor code project group. When Lothar Bisky resigned his Bundestag mandate on July 14, 2009 to move to the European Parliament , Hultsch took over his place. Since he did not run for the 2009 Bundestag election in September, his membership in the German Bundestag ended again at the end of October. In the state elections in Brandenburg in 2009 , he failed because he was only 37th on the state list.
