Dirk Weetendorf (born October 1, 1972 in Burg auf Fehmarn ) is a former German football player . The striker played for Hamburger SV and Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga at the end of the 1990s, and later for Eintracht Braunschweig in the regional and 2nd Bundesliga .

Career

Weetendorf came to the second team of HSV in 1995, from the 1996/97 season he played for the first team. Because of his talent, the fans called him "Horst-Uwe" based on Horst Hrubesch and Uwe Seeler . In the winter break of the 1998/99 season he moved to SV Werder, but could not prevail there and was handed over to the regional league club Eintracht Braunschweig after only seven goalless appearances, with whom he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2002 . However, at the age of 30 he had to end his career because of health problems.

After his active time, Dirk Weetendorf was youth coach at Eintracht Braunschweig, until the summer of 2005 of the B-youth, then until 2007 of the A-youth (with whom he was promoted to the A-Jugend-Bundesliga Nord in the 2006/07 season), when the club did not renew his contract. Since the 2009/10 season he has been coaching the ATSV Stockelsdorf league team .
