Dirk Wiemann

Dirk Wiemann (* 1964 in Detmold ) has been Professor of English Literature and Head of the Institute for English and American Studies at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Potsdam since 2008 .

Life

Dirk Wiemann studied English, German and political science at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg . From 1998 to 2000 he taught at the CIEFL in Hyderabad, India and from 2000 to 2001 at the University of Delhi. From 2001 to 2006 he worked as a research assistant at the University of Magdeburg , where he completed his habilitation with a thesis on contemporary Indian authors who write in English (Genres of Modernity: Contemporary Indian Novels in English). From 2006 to 2008 he taught as an academic advisor at the University of Tübingen .
