Nicole Waller
Nicole Waller (born June 24, 1970 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German philologist , Americanist and university professor.
Life
Due to the job of her father, who worked for Lufthansa , Nicole Waller grew up partly outside of Europe. She returned to Germany for her Abitur.
From 1989 she studied American studies, modern history and comparative literature at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (PhD 2004) and German literature and literature at the City University of New York .
Waller has been Professor of American Literature and Culture at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Potsdam since 2013 . Before that, she taught the subject as a junior professor at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz , as a deputy professor at the Georg-August University in Göttingen and from 2011 to 2013 as a professor at the Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg .
She deals, among other things, with American discourses on Islam, African-American literature, American territoriality , as well as with post-colonial theory and Caribbean studies. Her more recent work deals with questions of territoriality and indigenous sovereignty in North America.
Waller is part of the DFG graduate school minor cosmopolitanisms, which primarily trains doctoral students in a network of partner universities in South Africa, India, Australia and North America.
