Discard was a Finnish thrash metal band from Joensuu that was formed in 2004 and split in 2010.

history

The band was founded in early 2004 by guitarist Ohto Jaatinen, drummer Toni Ronkainen, guitarist Eero Kankkunen and bassist Vellu Kuronen. Shortly afterwards, singer Heikki Miettinen joined the line-up and bassist Vellu Kuronen left the band. The band recorded their first demo demo in 2004 in the summer of 2004 and released it shortly before Christmas. In early 2005 guitarist Kankkunen left the band and was replaced by Janne Roiha, who had also produced Demo 2004 . A short time later, bassist Mikko Kytösaho joined the band. By the end of the year the band was working on new songs and recorded another demo, Bury the Sun , in December 2005 and January 2006 . Various appearances followed until the band signed a contract with Shadow World Records in 2007 to release their debut album Carrion in the same year. The following year singer Heikki Miettinen left the band, so that the band could not take part in the planned European tour with Gama Bomb and Bonded by Blood . Tommi Virranta ( Survivors Zero , ex- Deathchain ) joined the band as the new singer . However, this couldn't prevent the band from breaking up in 2010.

style

The band plays classic Thrash Metal, the music being comparable to the works of genre colleagues like Testament .
