Survivors Zero is a Finnish death metal band from Helsinki that was formed in 2006.

history

In 2006 Sami Jämsén decided to found the band Survivors Zero , up to this point in the studio Perkele ( Deathchain , Barathrum ) as a producer, where he took the position of guitarist. In 2007 Tommi "Rotten" Virranta (ex-Deathchain) joined the band as a singer. A short time later, bassist Tapio Wilska (ex- Finntroll ) joined the band, followed by guitarist JV Hintikka (ex- Machine Men ). Reima Kellokoski ( Impaled Nazarene ) took over the drums.

In 2008 the band went to Jive Studio in Helsinki to record the drums for the first demo called Extinction , conducted by Jukka Varmo . A few weeks later, the recordings in the Perkele studio were finished. The demo was mixed in the Black Lounge Studio in Sweden under the direction of Jonas Kjellgren . In October 2008 JV Hintikka was replaced by Jani Luttinen. Towards the end of the year the band reached a contract with Cobra Records and recorded their debut album under the direction of Jonas Kjellgren. The album CMXCIX was recorded in February and March 2009 in the Finnish Seawolf Studios . It was mixed by Kjellgren in the Black Lounge Studio, mastered by Pelle Henricsson from Tonteknik Recording , Sweden.

The single Reclaim My Heritage reached number 14 in the Finnish charts, the album itself reached number 28 in the album charts. After the release followed a tour through Finland together with Sotajumala and Deathchain. At the end of the tour, Reima Kellokoski left the band and was replaced by Seppo Tarvainen. In January and February 2012, a tour followed Hypocrisy by Europe , a tour in April North America with Finntroll, Swallow the Sun and Moonsorrow followed.

style

The band plays traditional death metal, with the demanding guitar solos being characteristic.
