Tapio Wilska (born September 19, 1969 in Mikkeli ) is a Finnish musician.

Career

Wilska made his first musical steps in a school band called Smile . After a short time with the band Lyijykomppania , he founded the band Nattvindens Gråt . Their keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen founded the band Nightwish a short time later , where Wilska worked as a roadie and bodyguard , among other things . He was a guest singer on her albums Oceanborn and Over the Hills and Far Away . He also worked as a bass player in the Finnish band Wizzard .

In 2002 Wilska succeeded Jan "Katla" Jämsen at Finntroll and recorded the albums Visor om Slutet and Nattfödd with the band . Due to differences of opinion, he left Finntroll in early 2006. After a short break, he joined the bands Soulgrind and Survivors Zero as a bassist. According to his own statement, Tapio Wilska has worked as a member or guest musician in around 30 different bands.

Tapio Wilska studied English, Swedish and literature at Tampere University and wanted to become a teacher . Later he worked in an IT company in the field of web design . Today he works as a sound engineer in three clubs in Helsinki .
