Timo Rautiainen ja Trio Niskalaukaus ( fin . "Timo Rautiainen and the shot in the neck - Trio ") is a Finnish heavy metal band from Jyväskylä .

Band history

The band was founded in 1996 by Timo Rautiainen and bassist Arto Alaluusua, who had just left the doom metal band Lyijykomppania . A year later, the band recorded the Hävetkää demo with drummer Seppo Pohjolainen, guitarists Karri Rämö and Teppo Haapasalo and keyboardist Valtteri Revonkorpi . In 1998, Teppo Haapasalo left the Niskalaukaus trio and was replaced by Nils Ursin. The band later recorded their debut album at Finnvox Studios , mastering was done by Mika Jussila , and Tuomo Valtonen was in charge of the recordings. Lopunajan Merkit was released on January 25, 1999 by Ranka Recordings . After the release, Valtteri Revonkorpi and Arto Alaluusua left the band. Nils Ursin joined the band as the new bass player, a new keyboard player was not found.

The album Itku Pitkästä Ilosta made it into the Finnish charts for the first time in 2000 . A year later, the band released the album In frostigen Tälern . As the opening act for HIM , the band played on German concert stages for the first time. In 2002, the third album Rajaportti (German border gate ) was released. Both the album and the three released singles reached the top of the charts. The band won a total of three Emma's , two for the album and one for the surupuku track . In November 2002 Timo Rautiainen released Trio Niskalaukaus with Tiernapojat, a cover of a Finnish Christmas carol. The single stayed at the top of the Finnish charts for six weeks. A live DVD was recorded on February 14, 2003 in Jyväskylä . In the summer of 2003, Timo Rautiainen played Trio Niskalaukaus at the Pellavarock in Lammi and the Tuska Open Air Metal Festival .

In 2004 the band released two studio albums. First the Finnish-language album Kylmä Tila was released in the spring , which was more melodic and varied than the earlier works. Eicca Toppinen from Apocalyptica and Tuomas Holopainen and Marco Hietala from Nightwish appeared as guests. In June 2004 the band played a number of concerts, including the Provinssirock Festival in Seinäjoki . In the fall of the same year, the band released the second German-language album Hartes Land . The band returned to German stages, this time as opening act for Nightwish and Sonata Arctica . In November 2004, their record company released a best-of compilation called Tilinteon hetki , while the band announced a hiatus. In 2005 Timo Rautiainen was nominated Trio Niskalaukaus for the Emma Metal album , but Teräsbetoni had to admit defeat with Metallitotuus . On November 1, 2006, the band announced their breakup. Timo Rautiainen had already released a solo album at that time, Seppo Pohjolainen was the singer with Seppo Alvari & Mamboo Kings , Nils Ursin concentrated on his family life and played in the progressive metal band Arched , while Jari Huttunen and Jarkko Petosalmi in the band Dark Days Ahead played.

In November 2017, "Lauluja Suomesta" (Eng. "Songs from Finland"), the band's first studio album, was released after their official breakup in 2006 and their fifth album in Finnish.

style

music

A special feature of the music of Timo Rautiainen ja Trio Niskalaukaus is the use of three electric guitars that are used for “massive walls of reefs”.

Texts

The lyrics deal with global problems such as radioactive waste and environmental pollution, as well as personal tragedies such as the death of a loved one. In German the band name means something like "Timo Rautiainen and the neck shot trio". The band's lyrics are written in Finnish on five albums , and the band has also released two albums on which selected songs with German lyrics can be heard. The band took selected songs from their other studio albums as a template. For In frosty valleys the texts were translated line by line by a friend, so that the result sometimes seems involuntarily funny. Hartes Land contains selected songs from the albums Rajaportti and Kylmä Tilä . This time the translations were done by a Finnish German teacher.
