Dark Days Ahead is a Finnish groove metal band from Jyväskylä that was founded in 2005.

history

The band was formed in 2005. After the line-up changed, four songs were recorded for a demo in 2008. After further line-up changes, another demo followed in 2010, also with four songs. This enabled the band to increase its popularity. In addition, a music video for the song Chaos Caravan was created and the first concerts were played. In 2011 the band wrote their debut album while few appearances were held. In March 2012, the group signed a recording deal with Inverse Records , which resulted in their debut album The Long Road South being released in May . To the song MMMa music video was also released. The publication was followed by concerts before work on the second album began. The sound carrier was published in 2014 under the name North Star Blues .

style

Dirk from neckbreaker.de wrote in his review of North Star Blues that Groove Metal can be heard on it. The songs are quite short because, apart from the first and last song, which are about five minutes long, they would otherwise only last about three minutes. In addition, many songs would be very similar. Last Day of Light is a ballad in which clearer vocals are used and not the growling typical of the band . Katarzyna Zakolska from metal-temple.com also assigned the album to Groove Metal, with sonic parallels to Pantera and Sepultura being audible. The song Once We Stand, Once We Fall contains melodic, down-tuned guitars, as they are otherwise common in stoner rock , while screaming is used as vocals . Last Day of Light is more reminiscent of Stone Sour's vocals . In some songs you can hear influences from Death Metal and Doom Metal .
