Saint-Géréon ( Breton : Sant-Gerent ; Gallo : Saent-Jeron ) is a village and a former French commune with last 2,939 inhabitants (2016) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire ; it belonged to the arrondissement of Châteaubriant-Ancenis and the canton of the same name Ancenis . The inhabitants are called Géréonais .
With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Ancenis and Saint-Géréon were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Ancenis-Saint-Géréon . The former municipalities were not granted the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative seat is in Ancenis.
geography
Saint-Géréon is located on the north bank of the Loire . The wine-growing regions Muscadet-Coteaux de la Loire , Gros Plant du Pays Nantais and Coteaux d'Ancenis extend into the village. Saint-Géréon is surrounded by the neighboring villages of Ancenis in the north, east and south, Oudon in the south-west and Couffé in the west and north-west.
