The Disch Promontory is a towering, icy and 10 km long promontory in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Queen Elizabeth Range , it extends from the east side of the Prince Andrew Plateau .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names renamed it in 1966 after the United States Antarctic Research Program make Ionosphärenphysiker Carl Robert Disch (1938-1965), who on May 8, 1965 in a snowstorm near the Byrd Station was killed.
