DiscoverCars.com (known as   Discover Car Hire until 2019) is an international website for car rental companies . The company was founded in Latvia in 2013 . DiscoverCars is headquartered in Riga , Latvia.

Services

DiscoverCars.com offers online car rental bookings. The website is available in 17 languages. As of early 2020, DiscoverCars.com has been working with more than 8,000 car rental companies in 137 countries. The company works with global car rental companies such as Hertz , Alamo , Europcar , National , and SIXT , as well as with travel meta search engines such as Kayak.com , Skyscanner , Jetcost and Liligo.

After it was founded in 2013 as Discover Car Hire with mainly European locations, the company was renamed DiscoverCars.com in 2019.

In March 2020, DiscoverCars.com was included in the FT 1000, an annual ranking by the Financial Times that includes the fastest growing European companies. DiscoverCars.com reached 64th place, the highest place that a Latvian company has ever achieved. DiscoverCars.com also ranked third among travel companies and became the fastest growing car rental company in Europe.

In March 2020, DiscoverCars.com, like many other companies in the travel industry, was severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic . At the same time, the company saw an increase in local tourism in some countries.

Market research

In addition to providing car rental services, DiscoverCars.com researches customers' rental habits. In September 2019 customers were asked about the most picturesque destinations around the world, including Gran Canaria in Spain ; Izmir, Turkey ; Cairns, Australia ; Kefalonia, Greece ; and Split, Croatia received special awards.

In May 2019, the company examined how driving under the influence of psychoactive substances is handled with regard to the permitted alcohol limits in different countries.
