Discount corner

The discount corner

As a discount corner (until the Second World War Hansa corner ) is a listed corner house in the Saarbrücker Bahnhofstraße 37, corner of Dudweilerstraße.

The residential and commercial building was built in 1897 according to plans by the architect Karl Brugger. A bank branch of the Disconto-Gesellschaft was located on the ground floor, followed later by the Rheingans health food store . After the war the discount tavern could be found there. From 1948 the dance café Sans Souci , then Piroschka, was on the first floor . From the forerunner Scotch Club , Sami Zougari first created the Club Number One disco in 1976 , which still exists today with subsequent operators and changing concepts. In 1983 the city pharmacy was moved to the ground floor; law firms and medical practices can be found on the upper floors.

The underpass under the discount passage and the discount high-rise building (Bahnhofstrasse 31) are reminiscent of the building's former bank branch.
