Thistle lawn

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The westernmost part of the Hessian land ridge at the transition to the Vogelsberg immediately north of Schlüchtern in the Hessian Main-Kinzig district is called thistle lawn . Here lies the lowest pass over the Rhine-Weser watershed between the Vogelsberg and the Rhön in the east, at almost 370 m above sea level .

The federal highway 66 with the service area Distelrasen Nord runs over the Distelrasen ; the railway passes under it by means of the Schlüchtern tunnel .

On April 25, 2011, a second tunnel tube, the New Schlüchtern Tunnel, was put into operation. The old tube was then extensively renovated. Since mid-2014, each tube has served one direction of travel.
