The district courts ( Portuguese Tribunais Distritais ) are below the Tribunal de Recurso de Timor-Leste, the second highest judicial level in East Timor .

There are four district courts in East Timor, each covering a specific region of the country.

The Tribunal Distrital de Dili is located on Rua Abílio Monteiro in Dili's Vila Verde district . It was the first district court to start work in 2000. The Special Panels for Serious Crimes (SPSC), which were supposed to deal with the human rights violations in the context of the independence referendum in East Timor in 1999, were also part of the Dili district court . In 2017 there were 16 judges working in the Dili District Court.

The Tribunal Distrital de Baucau is located on Rua de Trilolo in the new town (Vila Nova) . It opened in early November 2004. In 2017 seven judges worked here.

The Tribunal Distrital de Oe-Cusse is located on Rua de Santa Rosa in Pante Macassar . It opened in December 2004. A judge worked here in 2017.

The Tribunal Distrital de Suai is located in Kampung Baru / Suai. It opened in late November 2004. In 2017 seven judges worked here.
